Trend shake: Raw living

passionshake - concrete walls90Happy Friday guys and welcome back to Trend Shake column! Looking at the recent trends, apart from the botanical inspired interiors I noticed that we are all about living raw these days. What I mean by that, is living in industrial inspired spaces like converted warehouses or lofts, and being surrounded by the construction materials. That’s right – we are speaking about rough, heavy, concrete elements, that you may find in your local hardware shop rather than in the shiny interior boutiques. While the concept of using them inside certainly isn’t new, it is definitaly still valued by the modern interior design and appears in different forms. Which one would you chose?

1. Concrete  It’s an easy to use and affordable material, which combined with the right accessories, creates modern, edgy look. Have a look at the examples below:

> Concrete walls – are great for introducing distinctly urban feel.

> Concrete furniture – are quite easy and fun to make and give an unexpected effect.

> Concrete floors – look best when combined with warm wood pieces and soft fabrics, for example sheepskins.

> Conrete accessories – wheter it’s a vase, a pot or a little cabinet the industrial feel is guaranteed.

> Concrete DIY projects – there is plenty of them around the web including flower pots, candle holders, vases so you can chose your favorite and get creative!

2. Exposed pipe and tube elements –  especially those of warm metalic colors – brass and copper. I have to say I love the way they look. Wheter it’s a lamp or a shelving solution, it always looks impressive, don’t you think?

3. Wooden pallets has always been used for DIY projects, however right now they are often transformed into a bigger furniture and paired with industrial elements for rougher look. And the good thing is, you can often get them for free from your local hardware store and make your own masterpiece.

There is something I really love about this raw trend but I’m not sure I would go all the way, having my walls covered with concrete, wooden pallete furniture and pipe shelving solutions at the same time. I think I would be happy with one of these elements, how about you? Would you decorate your home in this way?

Have a great weeked!

I am loving the brass trend. I could certainly live in this way, however I would need lot of sheepskins and fluffy blankets around me. Have a nice weekend!

I can imagine having one concrete wall. I agree about the accessories – I would also add to the list warm wood pieces 🙂 Same to you! xo
