Hello September and DIY Desk Organizer

DIY Desk Organizer For Back-To-School DaysHello friends! How have you been?

I can’t believe it’s September already! Summer has flown by too quickly this year, however it’s been very beautiful. Two very eventful weeks in Poland, busy August working on new projects, vacation in Tuscany and more to come in the next 2 weeks! Right now I’m packing for a very exciting trip to Helsinki (Habitare Design fair) and Munich (Our Book Launch Party!) but I promise to get back to my usual blogging schedule as soon as return. For now, you can follow my adventures on IG stories.

September is always so busy! To me it’s also this time of the year, when I intend to get more organized, be more productive and stay on top of tasks. I have to admit – I’ have always worked best with a schedule, an organizer or a to-do list written down, somehow knowing that a certain task needs to be done —gets me into action, mainly because I like to scratch things I already did off. It’s addictive to the extent that sometimes I break one task – into five or six steps, just so that I can scratch some more: ‘get the props’, ‘style the props’, ‘shoot’, ‘edit the photos’, ‘write text’, ‘edit’, ‘publish’. It could be just – ‘create a post’. Have I mentioned before I am not so normal?

Anyway, to keep an eye on my schedule I decided to make a new desk organizer – a multi-functional designs which can make your life not only easier but also prettier! Thanks to the glass surface it’s barely noticeable, making your desk area uncluttered and airy…the best part is:  you can write all over it!

You will need:

  • glass surface (I have used a glass of an old Art frame)
  • a 60 x 10 cm wooden plank
  • two 60 cm square pieces
  • a strong wood glue
  • wood finish in your favorite color
  • sandpaper

And here’s what I did:

Before starting this project sandpaper all the wooden elements and clean them from dust to make sure the surface is smooth.

1. Place two 60 cm square pieces on top of the wooden plank, leaving about 5mm space between them (the space has to be big enough to fit the glass surface inside)

2. Glue the square pieces to the wooden plank using strong glue and leave the design for a few hours to dry well.

3. When the glue is dry, paint the wooden planks using your favorite wood finish.

4. Place the glass surface inside and it’s done!

You can write on the glass surface with non-permanent markers (and easily erase the notes with a cloth/sponge and a bit of water

How do you like it? Happy Back-to-School days!

This is lovely! I love the idea of adding the glass panel as a mssg board!
