Hello all! Are you ready for a new week?
I guess it would be easier to say, if I asked a bit later. Monday mornings, aren’t my favourite either, especially when half of the world is having bank holiday, while in Italy it’s a normal work day. Argh! If you are reading this, at the same time having a barbaque, by the lake, with your friends, all I can say is – I want to be there too! But, I can’t complain much because next weekend we are going to Poland and if the weather won’t change its mind it should be very nice. Fingers crossed.
Now back to DIYs! I love making interesting light fixtures as they add great style and character to a room. Unexpected use of materials is also my kind of thing – like the one I made out of wallpaper and the paper cone with wooden beads. Do you remember? Did you like these ideas?
If yes, I have a new project for you to try – today I will show you how to make a DIY Pendant Lamp out of nothing else…but curtain rings! Now that’s an interesting element to use, don’t you think? The lamp can be personlized in many different ways, by painting the rings in different colors to match your home style, it’s great because the final effect is up to you, I really like the look of the raw wood so I left most of the rings unpainted, adding only an accent color in lines with recent trends: dusky pink and characoal gray.
Fancy making one too?
Here’s what you will need to do:
- big light bulb
- lighting cord
- wooden curtain rings (from your local hardware store)
- paints in your favourite colors
- very strong glue
Paint the rings, glue them together and pass the cord through them, that’s it!
Even though pendant lamps are very simple in their form, they can get very pricy if you look for them in the design stores. This lamp can be made for about 15$, and I really think it looks good!
What do you say?
