You all know my passion for uncovering creative talents right? I remember very well the moment when I first learned about talented Danish illustrator Sofie Børsting. I’ve been waiting for my flight at the airport in Copenhagen, with a copy of Bolig magazine in my hands. And then, while flipping through the pages, admiring lovely interior images (I don’t speak Danish so couldn’t do much reading) I saw Sofie’s Art work! I was immediately drawn to her wonderfully whimsical illustrations and green and blue color palettes which instantly took my mind on a trip to a place filled with beautiful nature and fantasy. Sofie creates her Art through discovering the botanical world in all manner of ways: drawings, paintings and on vases. And since I’m a huge fan of her work, I invited her here to share with us a little bit of information about her inspirations and creative process.
Could you tell us a little bit about your background – what did you study, did you always want to be an illustrator?
I studied at The Danish Design School, textile and interior design. Well Yes as a child I dreamt of illustrating A Thousand Legends. So the dream has been there, but only in the last few years I have devoted all my time to creating illustration art.
Where do you look for inspiration?
I get a lot of inspiration from daily walks in the nature, but also exhibitions and artbooks are deeply inspiring. Louisiana Museum of modern art is my favorite place to get filled up with inspiration.
What does a typical day involve for you?
My days are quite different. Usually they start with a morning walk to the lake. Sometimes I just draw paint and make collages and tend to forget other duties. Other days are filled with mails, Instagram packing orders from my webshop or making artwork ready for the printer. I try to get out for a visit to a museum or somewhere interesting once a week.
What is your favorite medium and what materials do you use to create your Art work?
I love simple ballpoint pens and good paper. Recently I am working a lot with gouache and collage. I make collage from my own drawings and paintings a kind of mixed media technique
What are your plans for the future and what are you looking forward to?
I dream of growing bigger in terms of artwork/ illustrations for exhibitions. Currently I am working on new vases with Lena Pedersen and I also have a book for children that I hope to get time to finish in the near future.
What do you display on the walls of your home?
Karl Blossfeldt , Botanical illustrations, Hilma af klimt

Thanks!
This post has been so helpful since I went to her first shop and discovered a new e-commerce platform. I am still in search for my own ceramic products so that came in very handy!
Happy to hear that Gudy! 🙂 Can’t wait for it to be available in shops!
