Highlights from Domotex 2024

The best way to kick off the year in terms of design news is to visit the industry fairs. I have just returned from Hannover where I spent 2 days exploring DOMOTEX 2024. As you know, it’s a fair dedicated to flooring exhibitors. A unique, niche trade show giving an excellent idea what are the ‘it’ floors to watch for.

If you have been following my Instagram, you have already seen my highlights but I would like to share the final takeout from DOMOTEX 2024 focusing on my favourite area, one-of-a-kind rug collection and green collection winner from the show.

1/ Favourite area

My absolutely favourite area was the 280m2 creative hub called Mood Spaces curated by Holly Becker / Decor8. Holly has designed and styled 6 conceptual spaces following recent interior trends and highlighting the impact of design on emotions. On top of that she has organised a dedicated workshop zone where she invited design and art experts to take part in her rich talk program. I was very happy to be one of them, giving workshop talk on the Power of Visual Storytelling and how to craft successful photography content for brands.

The area was not only inspiring in terms of featuring beautifully styled designs and rugs, it was also a wonderful corner where you could learn about various topics and network with industry professionals. Holly Becker is a true design mastermind bringing special touch to DOMOTEX each and single year. I can’t wait to see what she will come up with for the 2025 edition – Floored by Nature.

2/ One-of-a-kind rugs collection

My favourite rugs this year were the beautiful, bold but timeless designs by Unlimited Style Rugs. The one that stood out the most was the white rug inspired by the ageing murals, their imperfections and textures. I loved its shape and form. The collection also included: a rug recalling the shape of a folded rug, rounded corners rug and a few more including one inspired by the architecture of empire state building.

Keep an eye on this Indian family brand by two talented designer ladies Sushma and Noyanika Arora who inspire us each year with unique and out-of ordinary creations.

3/ Green collection winner

The green collection is all about sustainability, circular economy and environmental protection. That’s the most important approach when it comes to creating future designs. My favourite awarded ‘green’ rug is the Olbia Pure Nature by Tisca –  traditional, artisanal craftsmanship and the beauty of the sheep wool’s natural color. Tisca has also a new design coming out – OPAL rug with a unique combination of weaved textures done only by the most talented weavers.

As you know I have been a big fan of Tisca rugs for many years (which is why I have Tisca rug in my home too) and with every new collection I am loving their style and sustainable approach even more.

Once again DOMOTEX has left me feeling inspired with an insight into the latest industry trends and products. As Sonia Wedell-Castellano, Director of DOMOTEX said: “DOMOTEX is not only the global meeting place for the industry, but also the home of the entire carpet and flooring world, thanks to its positive energy and its distinctly international character”. Those are very accurate words describing the atmosphere at the show, however the best way to feel it is to visit the fair and be a part of it. Are you planning to come next year?

Thank you for inviting me, it was a true pleasure to be the part of 2024 edition and I’m very much looking forward to returning in 2025.
