DIY painted succulent pot

DIY painted flower pot - passionshake.com (1 of 1)Hello dear readers! Today I’m back with another project I’ve made for the Craft Cafe column this month on Heart Handmade UK. I wanted to create something that will let me hold onto summer days for a little bit longer, as I guess, regardless the calendar date I am not ready for the Autumn season! (plus it is still 22’C here in Italy! How about you?

Today we will be dressing our plants in the most simple, yet adorable way, by using paints to decorate them! In fact this little DIY fits any season, so feel free to go for your favorite colors and patterns and come up with fabulous looks for your green friends.

Painting flower pots is a quick and easy way to add color to your home and I will show you exactly what we need to do to make it work.

You will need:

-flower pots – for example terra cotta

-sandpaper

-colorful paints

-black marker

-acrylic sealer

First of all gently sandpaper your pots to smooth out the surfaces and then wash them with water to remove all the dust. Once they are dry and ready, the fun begins – get creative and paint them using your favorite colors. When the paint is dry – apply patterns, for example polka dots (like I did) using black marker pen and again wait a little bit for it to dry well.

You might also want to seal them, using a good coat of clear acrylic sealer on the surfaces, to prevent the paint from being washed out when you water them. After about 24 hours they will be ready to dress your plants!

I hope you like this idea and that I have inspired you a little bit today. Are you going to paint your pots?
