Capturing the Soul of Design Fair Booth: An Editorial Glimpse into Ruya Akyol Studio’s

You’ve poured years into perfecting every detail – selecting materials, refining forms, and investing in a fair that brings your vision to life. That fair booth at the Design Exhibition? It isn’t just a display; it’s a manifestation of your journey, your passion, your mastery.

But under the harsh, unflattering lighting of a fair hall, so many photos miss the mark. They flatten the story, sanitize the texture, and render your space like a CAD model instead of a living, breathing environment.

Let’s get one thing straight: I believe booth photography doesn’t have to be flat or boring.

At Ruya Akyol Studio’s booth, we approached her design fair booth photography differently, like an editorial film in stills – designed to capture the full sensory experience of the space.

It’s about more than documentation.

It’s about mood. Energy. Emotion.

We aimed to encapsulate the essence of the design, the atmosphere, the narrative.

Here’s how I work to translate that vision into imagery:

1. It’s Never Just About the Designs — It’s About the People

Design is deeply human. Behind every piece is a person with intent, a hand that shaped it, a mind that imagined it. That presence matters.

I like to show that – a visible soul, interaction with the designs. The presence creates movement and mystery, reminding the viewer that design is meant to be lived, not just looked at.

2. Styling for Storytelling

Even in a booth setting, styling transforms the scene. I arrange objects intentionally, creating lifestyle feeling or embracing visual space and shadows.

A candle, a shadow – just enough to suggest life, while letting the design breathe. It’s about adding just the right layer of atmosphere to invite curiosity.

3. Textures Tell the Story

Details matter. Surfaces, finishes? These aren’t just materials, they’re mood-setters.

I focus on capturing those tactile elements. A close-up of a shadow falling across a vase. A candle flickering in the corner. These details transport the viewer into the space—they can almost feel it.

4. Inspired in the Moment – Creative touch

Editorial shoots are rarely pre-scripted. I walk into a booth with an open mind and allow the space to speak to me.

As I take in the design – the patterns, the tones, the geometry – I follow what inspires me. Maybe it’s the rhythm of ligh. Or the repetition of lines on the rug. I respond by playing with angles, compositions, color blocks, and soft blurs. That’s when the magic happens.

5. Editorial Photography Isn’t Just Pretty – It’s Purposeful

Editorials do what product shots can’t: they evoke. They invite the viewer to feel something, to imagine the design in their own space, to emotionally connect.

Whether for your portfolio, press features, or social media presence – this type of creative photography elevates your work from “nice object” to “memorable experience.” It shows your audience not just what your design is, but what it means.

Let’s Redefine How Your Booth or Showroom Is Seen

A thoughtfully designed space deserves more than a flat, functional record. It requires imagery that captures its atmosphere, its intention, and the story it silently tells.

Through editorial photography, I offer more than documentation – I translate your creative vision into a visual story. Each frame is designed to reveal the depth of your work, to evoke feeling, and to create a lasting impression that stands apart in a sea of fair sameness.

If your goal is to elevate how your design fair booth or showroom is remembered – not just seen – I invite you to get in touch so we can  make it happen at your next fair.

Let’s chat.
