Milan Homes – Home of Interior Designer

Milan Home tour

Good morning readers, how are you? Ready for a new week to start?

I have a very special treat for you today which I couldn’t wait to share, so let’s get right into it! We will step into a stylish and creative home located in the heart of Milan, designed by Sandra Kaplanovic, my dear friend and interior designer from Montenegro. I’m sure you will love the open-space, filled with vintage treasures, DIY lighting and travel souvenirs. All that and so much more, carefully curated with an eye for unique details. It was a truly fun day to spend around, styling and photographing the space, laughing and trying Montenegrin treats!

Sandra was born in Montenegro, but she has lived, worked and studied in the US and Italy. As a young designer, she has very simple approach – to set up a goal and to decide the steps to get there. Her belief is – ‘better to concentrate in doing one, single, good piece and not starting many things at the same time’. I like it a lot!

Sandra: ‘In the last 10 years, I was traveling and moving a lot, so whenever I move in a new apartment I try to give it a personal touch. In this apartment, there were no lighting fixtures neither ceiling boxes so I had to find a way to illuminate the space’.

My favourite lamp is the one above the dining table, made out of drum cymbal – simple yet with so much character, which one do you like the most?

The space feels definitely welcoming and personal too, inspired by the atmosphere from 50’s and Milanese flea markets, Sandra has created a cosy home for her Milan’s Design adventures. The old-school granny’s kitchen is the heart of every gathering – where friends cook, have coffee, share a glass of wine, laugh and and enjoy delicious meals.

How do you like it? Do you spot anything you love?
My favourite part of the apartment is the wall dividing the dining and bedroom area – with a hand-drawn face on it, it’s on of a kind design.
Have a good start of the week!
