DIY Undersofa Storage on Wheels

Undersofa-Storage-On-WheelsI have a confession to make – I’m not the most organized girl on Earth when it comes to coffee table area, in fact I am the worst with keeping in order the magazines, remote controls, books, blankets, glasses and other handy little things. I mean – they should be within reach when we have those 10 precious minutes during the day to relax, right?

If you would enter my living room right now (at your own risk, that is) – you would see all of the mentioned items in the middle of the sofa, where I usually leave them. My coffee table doesn’t have a drawer, so I had to figure out a different way to make this chaos disappear. A DIY under sofa storage on wheels seemed like a good idea. Tested and I can guarantee, you won’t regret it!

Supplies:

  • rectangular wooden plank
  • wooden borders to fit the shape of your rectangular base
  • nails and hammer
  • 4 small wheels
  • very strong hardware glue
  • painters tape (optional)
  • white spray paint (optional)

Instructions:

Before starting this project measure how much space you have under the sofa, to be sure your drawer will fit together with the wheels.

1. Make sure that the wooden planks are well polished without any splinters. Once smooth and clean you can start to build your under sofa drawer.

2. Using nails and hammer, hook up all 4 boarders to your wooden base.

Ready! Now I can place all the small items inside, and simply slide the storage under the sofa, keeping the area organized and clean. Hope you like this idea!

this is another brilliant diy idea. Love it ♡

    • Aga says:

Super handy! 🙂 Although I have to be honest here – it’s not anymore as neat as in the pictures (I throw everything what’s in my hands there haha). Well at least with one kick, it all magically disappears. Thank you Martha! :*

Hi. What size is the base of the tray? Is it a piece of plywood? are the side pieces trim? i could really use this at my house

    • Aga says:

Hey Katie, the size of my plank was 1 m x 1,5 m, but I think it can vary depending on the size of your sofa 🙂 I just got a regular planks, no trimming. I’m sure you will love it, it’s so handy!

Doesn’t it get really dusty under the sofa ?

  4. Marilyn Z says:

I think it is a great idea. Some of us have very small homes and I believe in using every bit of the valuable real estate I have.
