Minimal table setting with DIY Paper Flowers

Styling a table setting can be a fun way to express our creativity. Whether it’s Easter celebration, birthday party or just a Saturday dinner with family, sometimes it is nice to make a little bit of effort to set the table differently and make it special. Food (and wine!) are always the main part of each gathering but they tend to taste even better when the table is beautifully set, don’t you think? There are many ways to do it, that’s for sure. What works for me is the minimalist approach hence this is what I follow when decorating our table. Today I would like to share with you the setting I have made for Easter lunch – simple, elegant with a little creative twist – DIY Abstract Paper Flowers.

How did I make them?

I’ve been playing with the transparent paper (either tracing paper or baking paper) for a while, using it for decorations and photos. I absolutely love the texture and how it acts with light. It’s so delicate and easy to crease and create different forms. So one evening, while watching a movie I bent and combined few sheets of it resulting in the ‘abstract flowers’ you see hanging above the table. I started out with a square piece of paper, folding it diagonally in half and then in half again resulting in triangle. I ‘opened’ it up and twisted the end, then I added two more sheets for each flower. That’s it. Pretty simple, right? I’m sure the experienced DIYers would say it’s far from perfect but I actually like that imperfect form and weird, abstract look.

I’m curious to hear what you think? Is it something you would hang above your table as part of your table setting?
