Dutch Design Week – NLXL & Piet Hein Eek Dinner Party

Goedemorgen New Week! How was your weekend?
As you might have seen on my Instagram, last week for me was all about Dutch Design Adventures with a group of 15 incredible bloggers (our powerful #blogteamddw) We have spent incredible weekend in Eindhoven where we not only witnessed lastest design collections, innovative concepts and creations (more about my finds soon!) but also shared quality time as one big, happy design family. That’s how it always feels!

In particular the welcoming Party organized in the enormous Piet hein Eek studio for the launch of the new Piet + NLXL Wallpaper Collection. A special dinner with special guests, including : Piet and his family, NLXL founders – Rick and Esther, Italian design icons Paola Navone (our chef for the night!) and Rossana Orlandi and Dutch Elle Decoration. What a night! One of those filled with warmth and shared passion, a happy reunion with many beautiful memories made.

About Piet Hein Eek – If you are not familiar with their work, it’s one of those design studios you can’t miss. I think it would be best described as an actual design (wonder) land, you can get lost in for days. Located in the former Philips factory, a gigantic space holds a shop, galleries, restaurants, factory, studio, workshops, exhibitions and a guesthouse to be opened soon. A massive playground for all design lovers, filled with unique pieces created under the careful eye of Piet who collaborates with numerous brands: NLXL, IKEA, LEFF just to name a few. It was amazing to tour their space and workshop and spent time with the creative minds behind it all.

About NLXLNLXL is a Dutch Wallpaper company founded by incredibly friendly couple : Rick and Esther Vintage, a brand best known for the Scrapwood Wallpaper, created in collaboration with Piet Hein Eek years ago. Other collaboratons include studio Piet Boon, Merci, Studio Job and Paola Navone. A stylish, imitation wall coverings with a goal ‘to become the world’s smallest global company’. New Wallpaper Collection is made using 3d timber stripes, inspired by the travels to Japan where timber stripes are used in many creative ways. As a result we can see a wallpaper with great attention to detail which makes us want to touch the wall, to see whether it’s real.

Sounds good? Have a look at my favourite designs and happy moments we shared at the celebration of the new collection launch:

Have a good start of the week friends!
