DIY Dreamy Indoor Swing

33I’ve dreamed to have an indoor swing my entire life. I repeat – entire life, ever since I remember! I guess there are some things one never grows out of, and a calming movement of a swing is one of them. It brings joy, looks great and is totally awesome to have around, especially when you have guests over. You wouldn’t believe how many different reactions you can get for one swing! Just imagine.

So guys, If you like this idea as much as I do, there are two ways to get one: You can buy it or diy it, it’s up to you. From my experience, most of the designs you can find in stores are plastic or the prices are reaching up to $500! This is why I decided to make my own. Budget-friendly and I customized it to fit my style.

Instructions: All you have to do to make the swing is drill 4 holes in a thick wooden plank, pass the rope through the holes and tie knots. Ask at your local hardware store what would be the best machanism for hanging the swing (depending on where you would like to have it – ceiling/door frame/wooden beams you will need to use different fittings)

I think you already know my taste very well – simple and minimal – hence I have always been drawn to the wooden swings. For the winter season you can dress it up with a cozy, knitted “coat” or hang a woolen scarf to make it dreamy.

Like it? Weird? Fun? What is your reaction to an indoor swing?

So cool! I think it would be really fun to have one of those hammock chairs indoors, too.

I never knew how much I NEED an indoor swing in my life until this moment.
And even if it’s non functional (possibly stack random books on the seat? We shall see!) this DIY will finally fill in “The Corner of Deco-NoGo” that has plagued me over a year now.
So, Thank you for the inspiration! I haven’t been this excited for a new project since the paint went on the walls.
