Hello my sweet friends! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Since the Valentine’s day is approaching and love is in the air (can you feel it? I can!) today I am going to show you a quick and creative V-project. I believe that nothing shows love better than a gift you took a time to craft with your own two hands. These little hearts are really easy to make and are a pretty gift idea for anyone special in your life. You can also use them as a key ring, nice decoration to top off simply wrapped presents or to decorate your home for Valentine’s party. I’m not going to lie to you – I am keeping some of these for myself π
This project is all about decorating so use your favorite colors and shades to personalize your hearts the way you like. I tried to make each of them unique by creating different patterns. Yep they are all different! The fun part is that the possibilities are endless.
I chose combination of sugary shades: light blue, peachy pink, white, black, and touch of gold with a more vibrant hue – neon pink. This is a very sweet yet, lively mix which fits my idea of Valentine’s day. What colors would you choose?
DIY salt dough hearts:
For the dough you will need:
-1 glass of flour
-1 glass of salt
– Up to 1 glass of water
-Cookie cutters
-Baking paper
-Straw
Directions:
Step 1. Mix salt and flour then add water gradually until the consistency is dough-like. It shouldn’t be sticky.
Step 2. Knead dough until it’s soft.
Step 3. Roll it out to 0,5 cm thickness.
Step 4. Cut out your hearts using cookie cutters.
Step 5. Poke holes in the hearts, using a straw (for a string/ribbon)
Step 6. Preheat oven to 100’C.
Step 7. Gently transfer your hearts onto the baking paper-lined tray.
Step 8. Place in the oven and bake for 3 hours.
For decorating I used:
-Acrylic paints
-Masking tapes
-Gold leaf and mod podge glue
-Pink string
-White paper and black pen (to make some love notes π
Here is what I did:
Step 1. Polish the edges of the hearts using sand paper.
Step 2. Spray paint them with white acrylic paint
Step 3. Play with the colors and paint different patterns with blue, peachy pink and neon pink paint
Step 4. Wrap washi tape around them and stick your love notes under.

Step 5. Cover the hearts with a thin layer of mod podge glue and decorate with gold leaf.
Step 6. When the hearts are dry, thread string/ribbn through the hole and tie a knot.

Hello Henna, it might be a bit difficult without an oven but you could try using self-hardening clay instead. Mod podge is one of the best waterbased sealer glues used for crafts. It gives perfect finishing to decorated surfaces (I used matte mod podge for this project) Hope you find this helpful π
